IABP
IABP: Intra-aortic Balloon Pump, used to augment the aortic blood flow by inflating a long balloon in the descending thoracic aorta in diastole. The device can be triggered either by aortic pressure or by the electrocardiogram for correct timing of inflation and deflation.
