{"id":1600,"date":"2010-03-12T18:03:12","date_gmt":"2010-03-12T12:33:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pgblazer.com\/?p=1600"},"modified":"2024-02-12T15:42:44","modified_gmt":"2024-02-12T10:12:44","slug":"inspiratory-decrease-in-systolic-blood-pressure-and-pulse-volume-mechanism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/johnsonfrancis.org\/general\/inspiratory-decrease-in-systolic-blood-pressure-and-pulse-volume-mechanism\/","title":{"rendered":"Inspiratory decrease in systolic blood pressure and pulse volume &#8211; Mechanism"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Inspiratory decrease in systolic blood pressure and pulse volume &#8211; Mechanism<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Systolic blood pressure and pulse volume decreases during the inspiratory phase of respiration.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Mechanism<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>During inspiration there is increased venous return (due to negative intrathoracic pressure)<\/li>\n<li>Right ventricles expands more<\/li>\n<li>Interventricular septum is pushed to the left side (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pgblazer.com\/2010\/03\/reverse-bernheim-effect.html\">Reverse\u00a0 Bernheim effect<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>This decreases the left ventricular volume<\/li>\n<li>Also the pooling of blood in the pulmonary circulation occurs, decreasing amount of blood reaching left ventricle<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This causes decrease in stroke volume of left ventricle, thus decreasing the systolic blood pressure. The maximum decrease in blood pressure that is considered normal is 10 mm Hg.
