If it is in the artery, it produces pain, pallor, lower temperature, loss of sensation and power of movement (paralysis). If the arterial occlusion persists for a long period, the limb will become gangrenous. If clot is in the vein, it produces pain, swelling and a bluish red colour, due to venous obstruction.
