ഈ ഓറഞ്ച് ചെടി വളരുന്നുണ്ട്, പക്ഷെ കായ്ക്കുന്നില്ല!

അടുത്ത സീസണിൽ കായ്ക്കും എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞാണ് ഈ ഓറഞ്ച് ചെടി ഏകദേശം മൂന്ന് കൊല്ലം മുൻപ് നഴ്സറിയിൽ നിന്ന് കൊണ്ടുവന്നത്. സീസണുകൾ പലത് കഴിഞ്ഞെങ്കിലും ഇത് വരെ പൂത്തിട്ടില്ല. രണ്ട് നാഗ്പുർ ഓറഞ്ച് ചെടികൾ ആദ്യം പതിനെട്ട് ഇഞ്ച് ചെടിച്ചട്ടികളിൽ ആണ് നട്ടിരുന്നത്. വളർച്ച കുറവായപ്പോൾ ഒരെണ്ണം മുറ്റത്തും മറ്റൊരെണ്ണം വേറെ പറമ്പിലും പറിച്ചു നട്ടു. പറമ്പിൽ നട്ടത് ആഴ്ചകൾക്കുള്ളിൽ ഉണങ്ങി പോയി. മുറ്റത്ത് നട്ട ചെടി കുറച്ച് നാൾ വളർച്ച മുരടിച്ച് നിന്ന ശേഷം വീണ്ടും തളിരിടുന്നുണ്ട്. കായ്ക്കാനുള്ള ലക്ഷണമൊന്നും കാണുന്നില്ല. ഇന്നലെ വേറെ ഒരു നഴ്സറിയിൽ പോയപ്പോൾ ഇതിലും ചെറിയ ചെടികൾ ഗ്രോ ബാഗുകളിൽ കായ്ച്ചു നിൽക്കുന്നത് കണ്ടു, പക്ഷെ വാങ്ങാൻ തോന്നിയില്ല!

This orange plant is growing, but not bearing fruit!

This orange plant was brought from the nursery about three years ago, saying that it will bear fruit in the next season. Even after many seasons it has not bloomed yet. The two Nagpur orange plants were originally planted in eighteen inch pots. When the growth was low, one was transplanted to the yard and the other to another plot. What was planted in the plot dried up within weeks. The plant which was planted in the yard was stunted for some time and then sprouted again. No sign of fruiting yet. I went to another nursery yesterday and saw even smaller plants growing in grow bags, but didn’t feel like buying them!
