വേനലിന്റെ ചൂടിൽ വെണ്ട വിത്ത് നടുന്നത് ഇങ്ങനെ!

ആദ്യമായി വരണ്ടുണങ്ങിയ മണ്ണ് നന്നായി നനച്ചു.
പിന്നെ പിക്കാസുകൊണ്ട് മണ്ണ് നന്നായി കിളച്ചിട്ടു.
അതിന് ശേഷം കൈക്കോട്ട് കൊണ്ട് മണ്ണ് കോരി മാറ്റി. ഉണങ്ങിയ വാഴയിലകൾ കൊണ്ട് നിറച്ചു, ഈർപ്പം നിലനിർത്താൻ സഹായിക്കും എന്ന പ്രതീക്ഷയിൽ.
വാഴയിലകൾ മണ്ണിട്ടുമൂടി.
എട്ട് കുഞ്ഞു കുഴികൾ കുഴിച്ച് അവയിൽ എട്ട് വെണ്ട വിത്തുകൾ നട്ടു.
നന്നായി വെള്ളം ഒഴിച്ച് കൊടുത്തു.
അവസാനമായി കുറച്ച് പച്ച വാഴ ഇലകൾ മുറിച്ചെടുത്ത് തണലായി വെച്ച് കൊടുത്തു. ദിവസവും വന്ന് നനക്കാൻ പറ്റാത്തതിനാൽ മണ്ണ് പെട്ടന്ന് വരണ്ടു പോകാതിരിക്കാൻ.

This is how Okra (Lady’s Finger) seeds are planted in summer heat! Dry soil was waterd well and loosened using a pickaxe. Then the soil was scooped out with a spade. Stuffed with dried banana leaves, hoping to help retain moisture. Banana leaves were covered with soil. Eight small pits were mad and eight Okra (Lady’s Finger) seeds were planted in them. Watered well. Finally some green banana leaves were cut and given as shade. I am unable to come and water it every day. So this is an attempt to keep the soil from drying away fast.
