മട്ടുപ്പാവിൽ കൂർക്ക കൃഷി തുടങ്ങുന്നു!

മട്ടുപ്പാവിലെ കൃഷി വ്യാപിപ്പിക്കാൻ ചെടിച്ചട്ടികൾ തയ്യാറാക്കിയത് ഇന്നലെ പോസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തിരുന്നല്ലോ. കുറച്ചു മുൻപേ തയ്യാറാക്കി വെച്ചിരുന്ന അഞ്ചു ചെടിച്ചട്ടികളാണ് കൂർക്ക കൃഷിക്കായി തിരഞെടുത്തത്. വേരോട് കൂടിയ കൂർക്ക തലപ്പുകൾ മുറ്റത്തെ ചെടിച്ചട്ടികളിൽ നിന്ന് നുള്ളിയെടുത്തു. കൂർക്ക ചെടിയുടെ ഒരു പ്രത്യേകത ശിഖരങ്ങൾ മണ്ണിൽ തൊടുന്നിടത്തെല്ലാം വേരുകൾ മുളക്കുമെന്നതാണ്. പ്രത്യേകമായി ലെയറിങ് ഒന്നും ചെയ്യണ്ട ആവശ്യമില്ല. വേണമെങ്കിൽ ഓട്ടോ ലെയറിങ് എന്ന് പറയാം!

പിന്നീട് കുറച്ചു വേപ്പിൻ പിണ്ണാക്ക് ഇട്ട് മൺകോരികൊണ്ട് മണ്ണിൽ നന്നായി ഇളക്കി ചേർത്തു. വേപ്പിൻ പിണ്ണാക്ക് വളമായും കീടങ്ങളെ അകറ്റി നിർത്താനും സഹായിക്കുമെന്ന് വികാസ്‌പീടികയിൽ വായിച്ചതായി ഓർക്കുന്നു. അതിന് ശേഷം വേരോട് കൂടിയ കൂർക്ക തലപ്പുകൾ ചെടിച്ചട്ടികളിൽ നട്ട് അധികം വെയില്ലാത്ത ഭാഗത്തു വെച്ചു. വേരില്ലാത്ത കൂർക്കത്തലപ്പുകൾ ആണെങ്കിലും വേഗം വേരുകൾ ഉണ്ടാകും. വേരുള്ളവ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് അവ ഉപയോഗിച്ചു എന്ന് മാത്രം. അധികം ഉപയോഗിക്കാതെ സ്റ്റോറിൽ വെച്ചിരുന്ന വാട്ടർ ക്യാൻ പുറത്തെടുത്ത് അത്യാവശ്യത്തിന് വെള്ളവും ഒഴിച്ച് കൊടുത്തു. അപ്ഡേറ്റുകൾ പിന്നീട് പോസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്യാം.

Yesterday I had posted about preparing garden pots for extending cultivation on the terrace. Five garden pots that had been prepared a while ago were selected for the cultivation of Chinese Potato. Small branched Chinese Potato plants with roots were pinched from the garden pots in the yard. A peculiarity of the Chinese Potato plant is that wherever the shoots touch the soil, roots sprout. Can be called as ‘auto layering’ as well! Then some neem cake was added to the soil and mixed well with a small shovel. I remember reading in Vikaspedia that neem cake acts as a fertilizer and keeps pests away. After that, the Chinese Potato stems with roots were planted in garden pots and placed in an area that does not get too much sun. Although rootless Chinese Potato stems will soon have roots, I used those with roots just because they were available in the yard. Took out a water can that was kept in the store without much use and poured water as needed. Updates will be posted later.
