വേനൽ ചൂടിന് ചെടികൾക്ക് വാഴയില ‘സർബത്ത്’!

വേനൽ ചൂടിൽ മിക്ക ചെടികളും വാടാൻ തുടങ്ങി. വാഴയിലകൾ ധാരാളമായി ഉണങ്ങി. ചില നേന്ത്ര വാഴകളും ഉണങ്ങി. രണ്ട് കുലച്ച നേന്ത്ര വാഴകൾ പോലും നിലംപൊത്തി. സ്ഥിരമായി നനയ്ക്കാനും പറ്റുന്നില്ല. പിന്നെ എന്ത് ചെയുമെന്നാലോചിച്ചപ്പോളാണ് ഈ വഴി തോന്നിയത്. ചെടികൾക്കു നന്നായി തടമെടുത്ത് ഉണങ്ങിയ വാഴയിലകൾ കുത്തിനിറച്ചു.

എന്നിട്ട് നല്ലവണ്ണം വെള്ളവും ഒഴിച്ച് മണ്ണിട്ട് മൂടി. ഉണങ്ങിയ വാഴയിലകൾ കുതിർന്നപ്പോൾ കുറച്ചു ദിവസത്തേക്ക് ചെടികൾക്കു വേണ്ട ജലം സംഭരിച്ചു വെക്കുമെന്ന പ്രതീക്ഷയിലാണ് ഞാൻ.

Banana leaf ‘sarbath’ for plants in summer heat!

Most of the plants started wilting in the summer heat. The banana leaves dried up a lot. Some Nentra bananas plants also dried up. Even two bunches of Nentra bananas fell to the ground. I have no option for watering them regularly. When I thought about what to do, I found this option. Soil around the plants were dug out and filled with dry banana leaves. They were then soaked in plenty of water and covered with loose soil. I am hoping that soaking the dry banana leaves will store water needed for the plants for a few days.
