‘Special’ method of growing a pumpkin vine!

Usually pumpkin plants spread along the ground on fields in which they are grown. Occasionally I have seen people spreading them on thatched roofs, in my childhood. Pumpkin fruits being quite large and heavy, cannot grow on vines spread upwards like this. So it is anybody’s guess on why I chose to spread it like this, on a mango plant with hardly any leaves. The grafted mango plant has been there in my courtyard for over three years and has never flowered. It was trimmed recently as the leaves had become unhealthy. My idea is to have small nets attached to the mango plant branches in case the pumpkin plant bears some fruits in future. The simple reason why I am planning such a special method is just because I have no space to spread a pumpkin plant at home otherwise.
