Money Plant in ‘Aquarium Pot’

Few days back I posted on benefit of growing Money Plant in an aquarium. This is a related post of growing Money Plant in an ‘Aquarium Pot’. I had converted a 23 inch garden pot into a standby aquarium some time back. Unlike usual garden pot, this garden pot does not have holes at the bottom and can hold water well. There are four goldfish and a few hydrilla plants in the water. Money Plant has been placed in such a way that part of it is submerged. The part above water can be seen flourishing well. New tender leaves are emerging. You can also have a glimpse of goldfish swimming around in the ‘Aquarium Pot’.

In this video clip you can get a better view of the goldfish. They have come near the surface to nibble the food pellets dropped in. Earlier this garden pot was a standby aquarium for growing hydrilla as food for fish. Then goldfish were added to prevent mosquito larvae from growing within. Goldfish will be very happy to eat any mosquito larvae that appear. Money Plant can thrive well even when partially submerged in water. I expect good growth of the plant as it can get nutrition from the water. I am keen to call this as my way of aquaponics. Aquaponics is a way of growing plants without soil!
