Brinjal flowers are beautiful!

Brinjal flowers are also beautiful, though brinjal is not grown for its flowers! Violet hue is for purple variety flowers only. Those of Green brinjal are pure white, with no violet hue at all. May be the pigment meant for the purple variety of fruits manifest in flowers in a smaller way. The flowers open downwards. For this reason, we can see the flowers well only if we stoop and view! Maybe it has something to do with activity of potential pollinator insects. I would consider this as part of edible landscaping, also known as foodscaping. Foodscaping is a modern term for including edible plants in ornamental landscapes. Another beautiful flower is that of Okra, popularly known as lady’s finger. Okra flower resembles a shoe flower because both plants belong to the same family.

Brinjal flowers are beautiful!

Closeup view shows the stamens with anthers containing pollen and pistil with style and stigma well. Petals, sepals and receptacle are also seen well. In fact this is a good image to study parts of a flower! Reviewing parts of the flower brought back nostalgic memories of school days. Let me hope that this flower and many more to come will get fertilized and give good yield of brinjal fruits. Somehow I had more brinjals when the plants were grown on ground soil elsewhere than in garden pots at home.
