Do you know why coriander seeds bought from grocery do not germinate?

In my younger days, even thrown away coriander seeds bought from grocery would germinate in plenty. But now they seldom germinate. You need seeds bought from agricultural nurseries if you want to grow coriander leaves at home. There is a specific reasons for that! I am explaining that in my garden tour today.
