Cosmos sulphureus plant has flowered!
|I had brought a few saplings from neighbour’s house and planted them in a few garden pots. They were growing well and today I noticed a beautiful flower on one of them. Cosmos sulphureus is also known as sulfur cosmos and yellow cosmos. Though a native of Mexico, Central America and Northern part of South America, it is now seen in Europe, Asia and Australia. Butterflies are very fond of these flowers which occur in other colours like yellow and reddish orange also. It is not much affected by pests and has even been named as an invasive species in certain parts of United States of America. Though it is an annual plant, it can re-appear for several years by self-sowing.
