Let us have a look at Eugenia plants
|Eugenia plants grow as beautiful shrubs in garden pots. If grown on ground soil, they can easily grow much taller than you! I have two types of Eugenia plants at home: Usual variety and Eugenia Liver Red. Latter has much darker colour of new leaves. Pinkish red colour is seen only for tender leaves. Older leaves are dark red in colour. Tender leaves become dark green as they grow up. Usual variety will look like as if it is on fire when viewed from a distance!

This is the first of the two Eugenia plants at home. The tender leaves are quite colourful while older leaves are green. It is growing in a 12 inch garden pot and is more than a meter in height.
Here is a Eugenia liver red plant. Difference in colour of the tender leaves is quite obvious. The colour of the leaves gives it the name as well. Personally I feel that the colour of the previous one is more attractive. Yet this Eugenia plant gives variety to the garden.
There is some variation in the amount of coloured tender leaves between the plants. That also changes from time to time. Maybe when a plant is growing rapidly, it has more tender leaves. As already mentioned, only tender leaves are quite colourful. It is when there are plenty of coloured leaves at the top that it may appear like a bush on fire from a distance!
