Norfolk Island Pine
|A google image search gave me the name of this plant as Norfolk Island Pine. Although I have seen this plant in many places, this is the first time I am having it at home.
Two such plants have been placed in garden pots here. Quite nice to see. It is also called as star pine, Polynesian pine, triangle tree and even as a living Christmas tree due to its symmetrical shape. If grown on ground soil, it can reach even heights of 50-60m. It is known by the scientific name Araucaria heterophylla. In regions where winters are too cold as in Europe and North America, they say that these plants are grown as houseplants.
