It can be easily grown in containers, even for those with limited space. This post will guide you through the steps of growing red amaranth including planting, caring for, and harvesting your own red amaranth. That will ensure a fresh and flavorful addition to your meals.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2>Choosing the Right Container for Growing Red Amaranth<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Choose adequate sized container size for growing red amaranth to ensure sufficient root space. It can be garden pots or even hanging baskets. That will be an <a href=\"https:\/\/johnsonfrancis.org\/horticulture\/edible-landscaping-for-small-spaces\/\">edible landscaping<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Foodscaping\">foodscaping<\/a> as well. Potting mix bought from local nurseries contain soil, cow dung powder and cocopeat. Cow dung provides nutrition to the plants while cocopeat makes growth of roots easy.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2>Sowing and Germination<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So far I had started plants by sowing seeds bought online. Now plants have started from seeds distributed from previous plants. Often I replant them to other garden pots if there are too many plants in a single pot. That facilitates better growth of plants.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2>Caring for Your Red Amaranth<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I water my red amaranth plants in garden pots daily. Only small volume of water is used, just to soak the soil. Excess water will simply drain out of the drainage holes. That will also take away some of the nutritious minerals along with it. Pests are a real menace, which is difficult to deal with. I try to remove caterpillars and grasshoppers manually. As a policy I do not use insecticides.
