ഞാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസമാണ് ഈ ചെടി ആദ്യമായി ഒരു നഴ്സറിയിൽ കണ്ടത്. ഒരെണ്ണം വലിയ രണ്ടടി വ്യാസമുള്ള ചെടിച്ചട്ടിയിൽ കായ്ച്ചു നിൽക്കുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ഞാൻ വിചാരിച്ചിരുന്നത് നമ്മുടെ കാലാവസ്ഥയിൽ ഈ ചെടി വളരുകയില്ലെന്നാണ്. നഴ്സറിയിൽ വന്ന ഒരാൾ പറഞ്ഞു അഞ്ചു മാസം മുൻപ് വന്നപ്പോൾ ആ വലിയ ചെടിച്ചട്ടിയിലെ ചെടിയിൽ കായയില്ലായിരുന്നെന്ന്. ഒരു കൗതുകത്തിന് വാങ്ങിയതാണ് വളരുമോ കായ്ക്കുമോ എന്നൊന്നും എനിക്കുറപ്പില്ല. ഇത് ഏത് ചെടിയാണെന്ന് ഊഹിക്കാൻ കഴിയുമോ?

Can you tell me which fruit tree this is?

I saw this plant for the first time in a nursery the other day. One was bearing fruit in a large two-foot-diameter pot. I thought this plant wouldn’t grow in our climate. A person who came to the nursery said that when he came five months ago, the plant in that big pot had no fruit. Bought on a whim, I’m not sure if it will grow or bear fruit. Can you guess which plant it is?
