എന്റെ ആദ്യത്തെ അഡീനിയം ചെടി!

എന്റെ ഒരു കസിൻ ചേട്ടൻ ധാരാളം അഡീനിയം ചെടികൾ വളർത്തുകയും ഗ്രാഫ്ട് ചെയ്യുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നുണ്ട്. മനോഹരമായ പൂക്കളുടെ ചിത്രങ്ങൾ ധാരാളം മുൻപ് അയച്ചു തന്നിരുന്നു. പക്ഷെ ചേട്ടൻ താമസിക്കുന്നത് ഏകദേശം നൂറ് കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയായതിനാൽ ഇത് വരെ അവിടെ പോയപ്പോളൊന്നും അഡീനിയം ചെടികൾ കൊണ്ടുവരാൻ തരപ്പെട്ടില്ല.

കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം ഒരു നഴ്സറിയിൽ പോയപ്പോൾ കുറേ അഡീനിയം ചെടികൾ കണ്ടു. പക്ഷെ ഒന്നിനും ചേട്ടന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ കണ്ടപോലെ ഭംഗിയുള്ള പൂക്കളില്ലായിരുന്നു. എന്നാലും ഒരു കൗതുകത്തിന് ഒരു അഡീനിയം ചെടി വാങ്ങിച്ചു. നന്നേ ചെറിയ ചെടിച്ചട്ടിയിൽ ആയിരുന്നതിനാൽ വീട്ടിൽ വന്ന ശേഷം കുറച്ചുകൂടി വലിയ ചെടിച്ചട്ടിയിൽ മാറ്റി നട്ടു. ഇനി കാത്തിരിപ്പാണ്, എങ്ങനെ വളരുമെന്നും, എപ്പോൾ പുഷ്പിക്കും എന്നറിയാൻ.

My first adenium plant!

A cousin of mine grows and grafts many adenium plants. Pictures of beautiful flowers were sent a long time ago. But as he lives about a hundred kilometers away, I never managed to bring adenium plants when I went there. When I went to a nursery the other day, I saw several adenium plants. But none had flowers as beautiful as those seen at my cousin’s house. Yet I bought an adenium plant out of curiosity. It was in a small pot, so after coming home, I re-planted it in a bigger pot. Now waiting to see how it will grow and when it will bloom.
