തണുത്ത വെള്ളം സ്പ്രേ ചെയ്തുകൊടുത്താൽ ഈ ഓറഞ്ച് ചെടി പൂവിടുമോ?

ഇയ്യിടെ ഇങ്ങനെ വായിക്കാനിടയായി: ആപ്പിൾ കേരളത്തിൽ വളരുകയില്ല, എന്തെന്നാൽ ഇവിടെ ചൂട് കൂടുതലാണ്. തെങ്ങ് കാശ്മീരിൽ വളരില്ല, കാരണം അവിടെ തണുപ്പ് കൂടുതലാണ്. അപ്പോൾ എന്റെ ഓറഞ്ച് ചെടി കൊല്ലങ്ങളായി കായ്ക്കാത്തത് ഇവിടെ ചൂട് കൂടിയത് കൊണ്ടാണോ?

പ്രായമായ വയനാട്ടിൽ താമസിച്ചുരുന്ന ഒരു ബന്ധു പറയുമായിരുന്നു, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ചെറുപ്പത്തിൽ വയനാട്ടിൽ ഓറഞ്ച് തോട്ടങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു, വീണു കിടക്കുന്ന ഓറഞ്ച് കൈയിലെടുത്താൽ കൈ തണുത്തുപോകുമെന്നും. ഇപ്പോൾ തണുപ്പുമില്ല, ഓറഞ്ചുമില്ല! ഞാൻ എന്റെ ഓറഞ്ച് ചെടിക്ക് ദിവസവും തണുത്ത വെള്ളം സ്പ്രേ ചെയ്തു കൊടുക്കുകയാണ്, കായ്ക്കുമോ എന്ന് നോക്കാൻ.

Will this orange plant bloom if sprayed with cold water?

Recently I read like this: Apples don’t grow in Kerala because it’s too hot here. Coconut does not grow in Kashmir because it is too cold there. So my orange plant hasn’t fruited in years because it’s too hot here?

An elderly relative living in Wayanad used to say that in his youth there were orange groves in Wayanad and if he picked up a fallen orange his hand would get cold. No more low temperatures, no more orange! I am spraying my orange plant with cold water daily to see if it will bear fruit.
