Downside of SKS

Downside of SKS

SKS or simultaneous kissing stents is a method used to tackle bifurcation lesions in coronary angioplasty. One of the downsides is that once a future problem like restenosis or stent thrombosis occurs at the site, it is difficult to reenter the lesion as the wire can pass through the struts of one stent and reenter the opposite vessel. This will cause difficulty in passing balloons and stents. V stenting is preferred to SKS in important locations like the left main coronary artery (LMCA) bifurcating into left anterior descending (LAD) and left circumflex (LCX) with ostial lesions of the two, not involving the distal LMCA.
