Is there any interaction between amiodarone and warfarin?
Amiodarone can markedly increase the effect of warfarin sodium. Amiodarone inhibits cytochrome P450 mediated metabolism of warfarin. So the dose of warfarin will have to be adjusted when amiodarone is added. This is usually done by monitoring the prothrombin time with the international normalized ratio (PT-INR).
