Left ventricular hypertrophy can be concentric as in severe long standing systemic hypertension, aortic stenosis and coarctation of aorta. Eccentric hypertrophy is noted in chronic severe aortic regurgitation. Asymmetric septal hypertrophy is characteristic of hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy.
