Methods for assessing LV function by echo

Methods for assessing LV function by echo

Methods for assessing left ventricular (LV) function by echocardiography:

1. Teicholz method
2. Simpson’s two plane and three plane methods
3. Speckle tracking
4. 3D method
LV longitudinal function decreases first, but there is a compensatory increase in radial and torsion function. Tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) helps in detecting this early dysfunction. The compensatory increase disappears as heart failure progresses.
