Pulmonary hypertension – progressive – on serial chest X-rays

Pulmonary hypertension – mild

Progressive pulmonary hypertension seen on serial chest X-rays. Initial X-ray chest PA view showing mild prominence of main pulmonary artery segment. Right atrial contour is slightly prominent.

In the X-ray taken after several years the main pulmonary artery and branch pulmonary arteries are more prominent and so is the right atrial contour. Doppler echocardiography documented the presence of severe pulmonary arterial hypertension. There is some difference in the penetration levels between the two films as well as the positioning.
