Risk for stent thrombosis after early surgery

Risk of cardiac death, myocardial infarction or stent thrombosis is increased 27 – fold in the week following non-cardiac surgery, compared with any other week after stenting [1].

This data is from the initial era of drug eluting stents. The thrombogenicity of newer generation drug eluting stents are much lower.
