Can the heart rate be low in a person taking medication for high blood pressure?<\/span><\/h2>\n

The common reason for low heart rate in a person on treatment for high blood pressure is treatment with a group of beta blockers which slow the heart rate. An unrelated reason like an intrinsic slow rate of the sinus node due to sinus node disease can also be there. Sinus node is the natural pacemaker of the heart which gives regular electrical signals to control the heart rate. Some medications of the group of calcium channel blockers which are used for treatment of hypertension rarely like verapamil can also cause low heart rate. Verapamil is generally not a first choice anti hypertensive drug, but may be used when there is some other reason as well for the usage of that drug.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
