That means that pacemaker will sense spontaneous signals in both atrium and ventricle and can pace both atrium and ventricle, but will pace only if the spontaneous signals are absent. D stands for dual and I for inhibited. First D means that both chambers can be paced and second D means that both chambers are monitored.
