Happy to see fantastic propagation from my multi-band fan dipole antenna!
|Switched on my radio at around 5.30 pm and I could see the 20m band booming with activity. Few stations from North India were coming in very strong. Yesterday I had received VU2DK at 5,9+30 dB which is the strongest I have ever heard in my radio. Today I could also hear KE5EE fairly well overriding the 9+ noise. Decided to check propagation on 40, 20, 15 and 10m as usual, by sending out CQ calls and monitoring Reverse Beacon Network. A pleasant surprise was awaiting me in the form of a new personal record on two bands. My call was picked up at 3D2AG, Fiji, on 15m and 20m, with signal to noise ratios of 11 and 8 dB respectively. That is a fantastic distance of 11718.9 km, the highest ever picked up by RBN with my new multi-band fan dipole inverted V antenna after I had homebrewed it a few days back. If only 3D2AG had been listening at that time, I could have had a lucky QSO with him. Better luck next time!
