Can you two antenna tuners simultaneously?
|I have tuned my 40m fan dipole for 30m using my ATU-100 automatic external antenna tuner. It shows a residual SWR of 1.65, and antenna efficiency of 94% with 38W of the 40W input sent to the antenna. An inductance of 0.11 microhenries and capacitance of 690 pF have been added by the automatic antenna tuner. As it is a fan dipole for 40, 20 and 10m, I am not sure which of the elements have been tuned to 30m by ATU-100. As the ATU has added 690 pF of capacitance, I presume it is the 40m elements which are longer than that needed for 30m that has been tuned. If it was the 20m elements which have been tuned, more of inductance would have been added as in loaded coil dipole antennas. Here only a minimal inductance of 0.11 microhenries has been added by the ATU.
Then I used the internal antenna tuner of FT-710 radio to tune the residual SWR to 1:1 so that the radio will see an excellent SWR, though the feedline will have a higher SWR. That way I can ensure that the final stages of the radio will not have a problem due to elevated SWR.
