Launch of first Indian Gaganyatri to Space Station tomorrow!
In a historic event, Subhanshu Shukla, Indian Gaganyatri (Astronaut) is scheduled to fly to the International Space Station on 11th June 2025 as per the latest schedule. There will be live coverage on the YouTube channel of ISRO. It is a joint mission of ISRO, NASA, Axiom Space and Space X. According to NASA blog, mission commander is Peggy Whitson, former NASA astronaut and director of human spaceflight at Axiom Space. ISRO astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla will be the pilot of the mission. Two astronauts, one each from Poland and Hungary will be mission specialists. Crew will be boarding a Dragon spacecraft and Falcon 9 rocket carrying them will lift off from the Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
We amateur radio operators are proud to note that Subhanshu Shukla has qualified in the Amateur Station Operator’s Certificate examination under the guidance of Upgraha Amateur Radio Club VU2URC and has been awarded amateur radio callsign VU2TNI. In addition to various scientific experiments planned on board the International Space Station, we hope that VU2TNI will also be operating the Amateur Radio on the International Space Station with callsign NA1SS.
