LEO satellite operation with salvaged UPS battery!
I was using a quarter century old linear power supply for my IC-2730A radio for Low Earth Orbit satellite operations, mostly through the Amateur Radio on International Space Station. Now I have salvaged a sealed lead acid battery from my old UPS which is now defunct. 180W Monocrystalline PERC solar panel is being used to charge the battery through a 200W solar charge controller. Most of the time I have to disconnect the battery from the charge controller as it is indicating full charge. That is mainly because of very few satellite passes are available for me to work with my fixed azimuth/elevation Moxon Yagi with just two Moxon rectangle elements on VHF and five passively coupled UHF elements.
