Vadakara Ham Meet 2026 is a Two Day Event!

Today morning VU2HSM announced the Vadakara Ham Meet 2026 during Charminar Net on 7080 kHz. Last time it was conducted in 2023 and plenty of amateur radio operators from all over the country participated. Stalls by amateur radio vendors in the country was an added attraction. VU2PKH got my CP22E antenna delivered at home from the Radio Brewery stall during the last meeting. It was a very useful piece of equipment for me to return to ham radio and start Low Earth Orbit satellite operations. Though it is an omnidirectional antenna for VHF only, I could use it successfully for VHF/UHF operation for satellite communications quite successfully. Ideal setup for LEO satellite operations is a dual band cross Yagi with azimuth/elevation antenna rotator.

Though I had not participated directly in the Vadakara Ham Meet 2023, I was keenly following the events on WhatsApp groups. I could see several photographs and video clips on YouTube as well. Many of my friends had participated in the program and were posting details enroute from various parts of South India, on their way to Vadakara Ham Meet 2023. I could also contact some on VHF while they were travelling to Vadakara. At that time I did not have an HF setup and missed the action on HF nets. The meet was on March 12, 2023, held at Sargaalaya Arts and Crafts Village, Vadakara. Vadakara Ham Meet 2026 will also be at the same venue. This time it will be a two day event on 31st January and 1st February 2026. Registration information will be live on November 1st, 2025 at the official website. It is being organised by the Amateur Radio and Disaster Communication Society (ARDCS), Vadakara and you can expect a lot of workshops, demonstrations and community networking opportunities.

You can expect the Vadakara VHF repeater VU2EDJ to be quite active on those days, apart from the regular evening net. Sandbanks Evening Net is conducted every night from 9:00 PM to 9:20 PM IST. Receive Frequency (RX): 145.825 MHz. Easy way for Satellite APRS enthusiasts to remember the frequency is that it is same as the APRS frequency of Amateur Radio on International Space Station. Transmit Frequency (TX): 145.225 MHz, Offset: -600 kHz.
