VU2JN Technical Roundtable on 7135 kHz at 745 AM IST – Update!
Yesterday VU2JN Technical Roundtable on 7135 kHz was listened to by VU3CDK on VU3TBU WebSDR while in transit! He suggested simultaneous 20/40m operations and listening on WebSDR as the propagation to Central and North India will not be good on 40m at 745 AM local time. Today it went one step further. VU2LID/N8LI listened using VU3TBU WebSDR from the other side of the globe at Rhode Island, USA! Local time was 21:15 there and he could hear myself and VU2TEW discussing about 40m antenna. He posted on X giving good suggestions for me to prevent water seepage into coax. He mentioned that coax with water logging has to be replaced as the signal losses are quite high. VU2LID suggested three layer tape covering with Teflon, rubber and UV proof electrical tape. He has sealed coax connections like this buried in the ground or left on the ground for more than 10 years. They still look new if opened up!
VU2TEW mentioned that he had trimmed his 40m inverted V dipole after yesterday’s roundtable and his signals were much better today morning. Today we were joined by VU24DX, who had been able to work DX on that frequency earlier. Tomorrow we are planning to join the frequency about 5-10 minutes earlier, to warm up the frequency! We hope to have more technical discussions tomorrow and also listeners from across the globe using WebSDR. As we expect participation and listeners from a global audience, we are planning to restrict discussions to English language as a common medium of communication.
