Have You Heard of RigPix Database for Amateur Radio?

Today morning, when I had a look at Google Trends I found that RigPix is among the breakout topics. As the website is by SM0OFV, I would have expected more querries from Sweden. But the number of querries from Hungary was found to be twice the number from Sweden. Next came Spain, Brazil and Argentina. Much lesser interest was noted from North America and Indonesia. Needless to say, I could not find any from my region, obviously due to the lower number of radio amateurs. It is interesting to note that RiPix website had over 23 million unique hits since 2001! SM0OFV mentions that it is a “A no-nonsense, multi-gigabyte source of information and pictures of radios, accessories and more”. At present there are 7155 radios and loads of accessories and other equipment in the database.

On the left side, at the top you have the three major manufacturers: Icom, which was started by Inoue in 1964, with 472 products, Kenwood/Trio with 327 products and Yaesu with 350 products listed. Below that there is an alphabetical list of companies. Still below that there are links for Other ham radio brands and Other receiver/scanner brands. Links to callbook services like QRZ.COM are seen below these. Finally we have propagation and solar activity reports as well. In the central part there are News and Press Releases and The amateur’s code, formulated in 1928. Lower down there is DX Cluster information from QRZCQ.COM. While the left side lists products by company name, right side has products and services by category. Specifications along with photographs of equipments are available on RigPix. So we have one site for reviewing details of large number of manufacturers out there.
