This USB or Universal Serial Bus cable was opened up for a purpose. First I wanted to demonstrate the wires going into the USB plug. Secondly I wanted to use this to get power from a power bank for hobby electronics projects without using a built in USB socket on them. So my power bank would serve as a good source of rechargeable battery power, though a bit more expensive. We are usually used to using the power bank to charge a mobile phone. But there could be other uses as well! USB output would be typically 5 V DC and usually current rating is 500 mA.

This USB cable has four wires red, black, white, and green. Red is the positive for the power supply and black the ground. White is the positive for data and green the negative for data. As you are aware, USB cable can be used for power as well as data transfer.
