|What is a DXpediton in Amateur Radio?
DX was initially coined for Distance Unknown and is a common term in radio communication for long distance communications. Every new radio amateur is fond of working DX and increasing DX tally! DXepdition is a journey by a team of radio amateurs to exotic places which could be remote or having little amateur radio activity. Those who work for awards in amateur radio, adding a new DX entity to their log is often thrilling.
An important DXpedition in early 2023 was the 3YOJ DXpedition to Bouvet Island, an uninhabited protected nature reserve in the South Atlantic Ocean. It is the second most wanted entity. Though I could not work them, I had been following the activity reports on Twitter. I could find 3YOJ in the logs of some of my VU ham friends as well. While there are DX news websites which inform us about DXpeditions, I found a simple way of looking for ‘Current Hot Callsigns’ at QRZ.COM. From there I found Saint Brandon DX pedition 2023, 3B7M from 24 February 2023 to 5 March 2023! Saint Brandon is an Indian Ocean archipelago.
