Worked 9N1CA From the Land of Mount Everest!
|
Today evening I heard VU2LB from Bhavnagar calling CQ on 14.200 MHz and answered him. He was coming here quite strong and I could get an immediate reply. Soon VU2FR from New Delhi joined the frequency. Though I could copy VU2FR very well, he could not copy me clearly. Some time later, VU2ZOE joined the frequency and he was coming here 5,9+20 dB as usual, from Telengana. Still later, 9N1CA joined from Nepal. VU2RZA also came to the frequency some time after that. All of us were having a nice round table QSO, though VU2RZA could not copy me, may be being the nearest station on 20m. 9N1CA could copy me, though my signal strength at his end was only 5,2. I was copying him 5,8 through the heavy noise in this region. If VU2ZOE had not asked me to call 9N1CA directly, he might not have noticed my call with a low signal strength, at a distance of about 2100.9 km. Though Nepal is on the North East border of VU land, as I am located way down to the South, it is a good DX for me! Even VU2FR is similar to me, at a distance of 1927.9 km as per qrz.com. Here is a 4 min audio recording of the last part of our ragchew including the contact with 9N1CA. You can also hear VU2FR and VU2ZOE.
