I thought of checking it out. It was a high elevation Western pass of about 72 degrees elevation in my region. Hence I was hopeful of a contact. I could hear the unmodulated CW beacon of PO-101 near the time of closest approach, with my antenna pointed in that direction. Soon after that I announced my callsign and heard it on the downlink. But I could not hear any other station. Later VU2TEK informed that he had heard my call very well while he was monitoring with external antenna due to heavy rain in his region.
