This was a 31 degree maximum elevation pass of Space Station along the Eastern side today morning at around 5.45 am. As it was raining, I did not want to go on the terrace and rotate my Moxon Yagi manually towards the pass. Instead I used my CP22E VHF antenna, with a height less than my roof. I could hear VU2GRM and E21EJC very well with that extremely limited setup. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You may be aware that ideal way to receive LEO satellites is by using directional cross Yagi and azimuth\/elevation rotator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here I was using CP22E VHF antenna, working on UHF as third harmonic, that too an omnidirectional antenna. So anyone with even a simple VHF antenna and a dual band VHF\/UHF radio will be able to receive satellites if you time the pass correctly and tune Doppler. In the beginning of the pass I could have a contact with VU2GRM as well. Though I tried calling E21EJC, my signals could not reach the Space Station at that time as it was at low elevation and far away, at about 1100 km, too much to expect from a low mounted vertical antenna.
