After that I settled for a QSO with VU2MV, my old time contact from the days when he was VUTEC\/VU2MVX and I was VU2JFP, in late 1980s. VU2MV noted that my signals are fading and signed off. I tuned around for some time and found that Belgaum net is also fading. Within a few minutes, the whole 40m band appeared to be very silent. I was reminded of the state when the <a href=\"https:\/\/johnsonfrancis.org\/techworld\/radio-black-out-extreme-g5-geomagnetic-storm\/\">G5 extreme geomagnetic storm<\/a> occurred in May 2024. Checked the planetary K index and found everything in the green. Of course, it is an average data getting updated every three hours. Maybe if I check after some time, it may be in the red. Checked space weather forecasts and found that multiple coronal mass ejections (CME) has occurred from the Sun a couple of days back. The stream of charged particles would have made their way into our region. Usually the day side of the globe is affected more.
