Here is a specialized roadmap to transition from &#8220;licensed&#8221; to &#8220;active&#8221; in your first month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Week 1: The &#8220;Shack&#8221; Setup &amp; First Listen<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before you transmit, you need to ensure your station is technically sound\u2014especially with the RF grounding requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Confirm Your Call Sign:<\/strong> Wait for your callsign to appear in the portal of the licensing authority, like Saral Sanchar in India and FCC in the US. Once it&#8217;s there, you are legal to transmit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The &#8220;Pre-Flight&#8221; Check:<\/strong> Connect your antenna to your transceiver and check SWR (Standing Wave Ratio) at the lowest power on a clear frequency. Simplex contacts are more difficult than repeater contacts because most local ham antennas are at much lower elevation than repeaters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Week 3: Deep Dive into HF &amp; Antennas<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Propagation Tracking:<\/strong> Use tools like <strong>Reverse Beacon Network <\/strong>and <strong>PSK Reporter<\/strong> to see where your signal is actually going. You could also listen to your signal on multiple <strong>WebSDRs<\/strong> around the world. Monitor the <strong>Solar Flux Index (SFI)<\/strong> from websites like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qrz.com\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.qrz.com\/\">QRZ.COM<\/a> \u2014if it\u2019s above 150, the higher bands (10m\/15m) will be &#8220;wide open.&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The QRP Challenge:<\/strong> If you\u2019re building a QRP (low power) kit, this is the week to test your soldering.
