In circular polarization, the radio wave rotates as the signal propagates. If it rotates to the right, it is known as right hand circular polarization (RHCP) and if it rotates to the left, as left hand circular polarization (LHCP). Using circularly polarized antennas helps to minimize the effects cross polarization losses as the satellite moves through space.<\/p>\n
<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3074 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/johnsonfrancis.org\/techworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Circular-and-linear-polarization.jpg\" alt=\"Circular and linear polarization\" width=\"1646\" height=\"675\" srcset=\"https:\/\/johnsonfrancis.org\/techworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Circular-and-linear-polarization.jpg 1646w, https:\/\/johnsonfrancis.org\/techworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Circular-and-linear-polarization-300x123.jpg 300w, https:\/\/johnsonfrancis.org\/techworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Circular-and-linear-polarization-1024x420.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/johnsonfrancis.org\/techworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Circular-and-linear-polarization-768x315.jpg 768w, https:\/\/johnsonfrancis.org\/techworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Circular-and-linear-polarization-1536x630.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1646px) 100vw, 1646px\" \/>
Polarization of antennas: This is just a screen shot. Cross polarization means polarization of the transmitting antenna and receiving antenna are right angles to each other producing great signal loss, near to total in ideal conditions. If your antenna is circularly polarized, the signal loss will not be total when the satellite tumbles and spins in orbit.
