Time window for the award is supposed to end today. Had a look at National Frequency Allocation Plan 2022 as I was not familiar with the 60 m band and had never heard about it on the air. An allocation was seen there from 5 351.5-5 366.5 kHz (maximum power 15 W)! Had a look at my radio. There was an option for 5 MHz band among the selectable amateur radio bands. That would correspond to the 60 m amateur band. Tried listening with End Fed Half Wave antenna meant for 40, 20, 15 and 10 m. I could not hear any activity on the band, as expected, though I checked a few times at varying times of the day.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8469\" src=\"https:\/\/johnsonfrancis.org\/techworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Have-You-Heard-of-60-Meter-Amateur-Radio-Band.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"678\" srcset=\"https:\/\/johnsonfrancis.org\/techworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Have-You-Heard-of-60-Meter-Amateur-Radio-Band.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/johnsonfrancis.org\/techworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Have-You-Heard-of-60-Meter-Amateur-Radio-Band-300x170.jpg 300w, https:\/\/johnsonfrancis.org\/techworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Have-You-Heard-of-60-Meter-Amateur-Radio-Band-1024x579.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/johnsonfrancis.org\/techworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Have-You-Heard-of-60-Meter-Amateur-Radio-Band-768x434.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the discussion on QRZ told me that in the United States of America, the band is given as five channels with a maximum power of 100 W permissible. One of my Twitter contacts from Ireland shared a webpage by KA5WSS discussing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ka5wss.com\/posts\/60m-award-hunting\/\">award hunting on 60 m<\/a>! There are various awards corresponding to the ARRL awards, by other sponsors. Another Twitter contact from UK mentioned that at 2015 ITU World Radiocommunication Conference 5 MHz amateur band was agreed but with 15 watt ERP.
