Different Pattern of Leaf Miner
|Leaf miners are insect larvae which eat away the green portion of leaves. The pattern of leaf miner attack is supposed to identify the species of insect involved. But I am not an expert to find it out. Earlier I had seen serpiginous lines on the leaves of my vegetable plants. Now I am seeing mostly linear pattern of action of leaf miners on these brinjal leaves. So it should be a different species of insect which is involved.

Simple way is to remove the leaves with pattern of leaf miner. But I am hesitant this time as almost all the leaves are involved. Moreover they are large leaves, looking otherwise healthy. What I am planning to do is to spray a mixture of neem oil and little bit of liquid soap. That is the only insect repellent which I use. Even though it may not affect the already involved leaves, I do hope that new leaves will be better. Earlier I had tried a mixture of eucalyptus oil, neem oil, turmeric and lemongrass oil. But that spray has a tough odour and I need to wear a tight fitting N95 mask. Otherwise I will keep on sneezing while using that spray!
