Will this spray keep away leaf miners?
|Yesterday I had posted about a new pattern created by leaf miners on my brinjal plants. I had mentioned that I will try spraying a mixture of neem oil and liquid soap to repel leaf miner insects. Today I thought of spraying a commercial mixture of neem oil, eucalyptus oil, lemongrass oil and turmeric. Simple reason was that I had about 250ml of the spray with me. As it was used partly a few weeks back, I can’t keep it long. This video clip was taken after spraying and you can see the yellow staining of turmeric.

The only problem for me while spraying this mixture is that I have to use a tight fitting N95 mask. Otherwise I will keep on sneezing because of the odour of the spray! I learned it the hard way when I used it for the first time. Now I used this spray for possibly repelling leaf miners after wearing a tight fitting N95 mask and I did not have much problem! I do sincerely hope that it will be of help to my plants. At least it should prevent further attack on new leaves. After observing a day or two, I am planning to remove the infested leaves.
