Audio Splitter for ‘Lengthening’ Cable of CW Paddles!

Recently I had started using CW paddles for my FT-710 radio both for practising CW and for CW contacts, including some DX work. I found the length of the cable a bit too short so that I had to keep the paddles on one side of the radio, which was a bit inconvenient for keying. Searched for an extension cable and the minimum length I found was 1.8m, which was much longer than what I needed. It was then that I found this audio splitter with 3.5mm pin and a short cable in my surplus materials.

I could easily pin it in the key jack behind the radio and keep it underneath the radio so that the total length is just enough for me to use the paddles in front of the radio. Now I feel more comfortable while operating the CW paddles. More difficult hurdle is of course improving my sending and receiving skills. Though I have been able to get a few CW contacts on multiple bands, Reverse Beacon Network has not picked up my CQ calls yet, possibly because the sending style is not up to the mark!
