Can you operate FT-710 remotely?
Recently when I read about IC-7760 launched at the Tokyo Ham Fair, it was mentioned that it can be operated over a home local area network. Little did I know that the radio sitting on my table top also had such an option. Glancing through the operator manual of FT-710, I was quite surprised to know that it has an option for remote operation through a LAN cable or even over the internet. For that I need a LAN unit known as SCU-LAN10, which I had not purchased. USB Type B port on the rear end of the radio can be connected to a Type B to Type A cable, which I already have. The Type A plug can be connected to the optional SCU-LAN10 device which also needs a separate DC input. SCU-LAN10 has a LAN port which can be connected to the internet, home LAN or a personal computer. Software needed for PC control can be downloaded from Yaesu website. It is also possible to monitor the bands on a large monitor screen sitting in another room. Various filter settings and interference removal can be accessed from the personal computer, in addition to RF and AF scopes.
