Checking Improvement in Performance After Raising CP22E VHF Antenna

Checking Improvement in Performance After Raising CP22E VHF Antenna

Till now the CP22E VHF Antenna was just at 5 m from the ground, on the first floor terrace. Planned to raise it 4 more meters. Still it will be way below the level of the water tank and near it, with potential decrease in performance. Yet I decided to accept lower performance by giving more weightage to safety. After all a better performing antenna should not be one which would easily fly away in the wind!  Anchored the antenna mast with multiple thick ropes for stabilization. An earthing point was attached to the mast with nut and bolt and connected with 4 sq mm insulated copper wire to a four feet earth rod hammered into the soil nearby.

Prior to raising the antenna I had good access to the local repeater which was just 4 Km away and another one at 30 Km. Had occasional minimum access to another one at 47 Km. After increasing the height of the antenna, access to the repeater at 47 Km became quite comfortable and minimum access was obtained to another repeater at 128 Km.
