Glad to hear Indonesian stations on IO-86 with early activation!
LAPAN-A2 or IO-86 satellite with a transequatorial pass is usually activated on weekends, that too only when the satellite reaches the region of Indonesia, the parent country. In that case it is difficult to access from my region. As a special privilege to VU hams, last week and this week, special slots of early activation termed “VR HT ID & India” have been provided by the satellite controller. Last week the passes were of low elevation for me and I could not hear much. Today morning there was a pass with about 40 degree maximum elevation in my region and it was activated before the time of closest approach. I listened with my Moxon Yagi and could hear Indonesian stations towards the end of the pass in my region. YG4SLJ reported hearing my call and I heard his call as well, though we could exchange full reports through the satellite. Here is the pass recording using my fixed elevation/azimuth Moxon Yagi pointed toward the direction of Indonesia from my region. Frequencies need Doppler correction during the pass of satellite.
