Have a Look at the Brand New Musical Keyboard at Home!

Earlier I had posted about the toy musical keyboard. Now have a look at the brand new musical keyboard! Being only a listener and not a performer of music, I am more interested in the technical aspects of the musical keyboard. Of course I do enjoy the instrument being played by others well versed in it. It has five sets of black keys of five in each set of 2+3, thus making it a five octave keyboard. In addition there are 36 white keys, making it a total of 61 keys. White keys are the standard notes while the black keys are sharps or flats. White keys are named in sequence as C, D, E, F, G, A, B and so on.

On the rear side there are sockets for auxillary mic, which is of 3.5mm size, 6.5mm headphone output, which could also go to the input of an amplispeaker with an adaptor and a sustain pedal socket. Pressing the sustain pedal allows the notes to ring out for a longer period by removing the dampers. In addition to these three sockets, there is a type B USB socket with an almost square shape unlike the rectangular shape of type A USB socket. Type B USB sockets are usually seen on printers with USB connectivity.

Here is the control area of the musical keyboard for accessing the different functions. There is a large master volume control knob on the left side with on/off button above that and an LCD screen in the center of the keyboard. On the right lower corner there is a musical database. I am yet to learn the functions of the numerous buttons out there as I am new to this device.

Just like any other newbie, I too tried to meddle with some of the buttons, to see the functions and to hear some preset music notes. At present, the only way I can use the musical keyboard is to listen to some of the built-in tracks. It will continue to be so in the foreseeable future as well, as I found it difficult for me to memorize the musical notes and play them in the right sequence to produce a nice song. Should have done it long back when there was a higher learning potential, but never had such an opportunity then.
