Interesting observation on shadow of a net!

This was a casual observation as I was having breakfast today morning. The shadow of the mosquito net on my window pane was falling on the breakfast table. I noticed that only the horizontal wires of the net were casting better shadows on the table, while the vertical wires were not very clear. Wondered whether it has anything to do with the angle in which sunlight was coming or anything related to the polarization of the light waves? Or does it have anything to do angle of incidence and reflectivity of the table top at different angles? The picture in the inset is a direct photograph of the net.

Another photograph taken a couple of minutes later showed the vertical lines also faintly. Could not experiment much because the clouds soon obscured the Sun, being the onset of monsoon in this region.
